Longchang apartments: a former British police station turned into a residential complex.
The area has been built between the 20s and 30s of the last century and is part of Shanghai International Settlement.
The first people who came to live here were the families of security officers and workers.
Recently the site has become famous overnight after the movie “Kung Fu Hustle” directed by Stephen Chow (In Shanghai, China in the 1940s, a wannabe gangster aspires to join the notorious “Axe Gang” while residents of a housing complex exhibit extraordinary powers in defending their turf, plot from imdb.com).
