The park was first built in the reign of Emperor Kangxi 2 km southwest of downtown, facing the Western Hills across the Dianchi Lake.
大观公园 Daguan Park, Kunming, Yunnan
The park has a distinctive sentiment of thriving flowers and trees; balconies and pavilions; water and bridges.
The famous three-story Daguan Pavilion is standing beside water, with a wonderful view and excellently inscribed boards and couplets. On the gate of the pavilion, the couplet with 180 characters by Sun Ran, a Qing Dynasty poet, boasts “the best long couplet from the ancient times”. The upper line describes the lake and the lower one narrates Yunnan’s history, landscapes, and emotion, a perfect integral. In the park there is also a Luna Park.
