On January 19th, Chongqing airport police seized 10 bear paws during a routine check.
The macabre discovery, hidden in a shipment of seafood, has sparked further investigations. Chongqing airport was only a transit point; the final destination was Shenzhen. The paws were taken at the airport by a smuggler in his thirties who tried to hide them in boxes containing seafood. In China, servings of bear braised paws sell for between 350$ and 600$ each.
