Disappearing China: Yang Kei village, Guangzhou

Guangzhou urban village – On July 1, 2010, Guangzhou began the demolition of Yangqi village.

The work went on for over a year.

 On August 17, work began in full swing.

July 14, 2010. Roofs of the village were photographed from a nearby building.

August 26, 2010. The village was in an advanced state of decomposition. In the distance the lights of Zhongshan Road.

February 15, 2011.

May 11, 2011. A storm strikes Guangzhou. Just a bunch of buildings standing.

May 11, 2011. The lightning pierce the sky of Guangzhou.

June 16, 2011. Only a dozen families remain in the village.

Inhabitants waiting to be moved to a new home, posing in front of their houses and rendering of what will be built.
