Being one of the five national nature reserves, the Nangun River Nature Reserve (南滚河自然保护区) is in the middle of the Sino-Burma border that is southwest of Cangyuan county of Lincang.
This area is well-reserved in forests and numerous wild rare animals as Asian elephants, gibbons, macaques, peacocks, pandas, and tigers together with hundreds of plants as Shaluo, Tieshan, and Tie Limu. As the only distribution range of macaques with white palms, the area mainly aims to protect Asian elephants and tropical rainforests, which is thus a resort of scientific investigation, exploration, ecology, and traveling.
