Mingyong Glacier in Deqen county, Yunnan

Mingyong Glacier (明永冰川) is located halfway up Kawagebo Peak, the highest peak of Meili Snow Mountain.

Mingyong Glacier is 4 kilometers long and 30-80 meters wide. The glacier extends down along Mingyong Valley to 2650 meters above sea level.

The environmental conditions of the forest mixed with coniferous and broadleaf trees and wet evergreen latifoliate forests around the ice mountain are well preserved, which represent the typical variety of natural geographical features. According to the research, at present, she is one of the glaciers at the lowest latitude as well as the glacier at +the lowest elevation in the Northern Hemisphere.
