Underground housing in China
Chen, a former mineworker , 64 years old, residing in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, has dug for four years a 50-square-meter extension to his house six meters below the ground of his own yard.
After digging 4-5 hours a day for two years, a 50-sq-m space was dug out, including an entrance hall, corridors and a 8-sq-m decorated bedroom. According to the miner, the tunnels are able to resist earthquakes and have a constant temperature of around 19 degrees
