12 Citizens
-When news came that a young guy from a wealthy adopted family had murdered his birth father, the case's controversies enraged the general public. To explore this controversial subject, an experiment was organized in the form of a virtual court within a college. During the virtual court procedure, 12 Chinese citizens from all walks of life gathered and debated the matter as if they were a jury. People begin to look more critically about the case due to the main character's nuanced and thought-provoking queries. Throughout this process, people's biases and emotional prejudices about the suspect, each other, and society are revealed. Through the turning of the jury one by one, a discourse between different socioeconomic groups was started, and the light was shined on the usual mistakes we make when prejudices and judgments are involved. They went away with a unified verdict regarding the case and a better knowledge of themselves and the idea of justice after numerous stressful, heated rounds of debate. The film examines today's societal concerns in China and attempts to present an alternate viewpoint through talks amongst different social strata; it will be a serious comedy with an entertaining format.
