Last Updated on 2024/01/22

China is home to the largest video game companies on the planet today. In 2018, video game revenues in China accounted for a quarter of the global gaming industry, further cementing the country’s top position in the video game maker rankings.

What are some of the Chinese gaming companies?

So, which companies produce the best Chinese games? Today, three corporations have paved the way for Chinese online gaming in the global market:

  • Tencent. Officially, the world’s largest company in the video game industry is headquartered in Shenzhen. At the beginning of 2021, it was valued at nearly $1 trillion. In 2020, its video game publishing division generated revenue of $23.79 billion.
  • Perfect World. This company was originally called Perfect World Games and was founded by Chi Yufeng. Its goal was to develop and launch Chinese games for the online multiplayer market. It was with Perfect World that games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) and Dota 2 became available to China. The company made a deal with Valve to become the exclusive distributor of their products in China.
  • NetEase. Its history dates back to 1997. Since then, the company has focused on providing online entertainment services, including the development of online games for PCs and mobile devices. NetEase’s specialized Chinese games include Tianxia III, Heroes of Tang Dynasty Zero, Nostos, Onmyoji, and others.

Best Chinese games on PC

1. Honor of Kings

Few things can compete with Slotamia space slots from the online world, as this game contains the best fillers for space travel. However, today, we are focusing on the Chinese market. Honor of Kings is a multiplayer Chinese combat game that can be played online with friends or casual participants. According to statistics, about 200 million people play Honor of Kings every month. In 2015, a game’s mobile version was developed in which two teams of five people fight. We hope you know that you can come up with a name for your team using the nickname generator. In Honor of Kings, each group controls their heroes, using different skills to attack the enemy base.

2. Onmyoji

Onmyoji also holds a place of honor in the list of the best Chinese games on PC. It was released in September 2016 by NetEase and was one of the top eight highest-grossing games. The monthly revenue of this Chinese game is estimated to be $100 billion, and it has already been downloaded more than 20,000 times at the end of August 2019. So when choosing which games for PC to download for free, pay attention to Onmyoji. In it, each player gets unique abilities to defend against enemies.

3. Fantasy Westward Journey

Fantasy Westward Journey is the first 3D animated game. Since it was released in 2015 by NetEase, it is not like the new PC games, but it is still considered one of the most popular Chinese games. The total gross revenue of its mobile version is about $2.3 billion for the year because there are more than 250 million active players in China alone. In Fantasy Westward Journey, you can customize your character’s appearance and skills and then explore new places while fighting various enemies.

4. QQ Speed

QQ speed is the most famous racing game in China. It has been very popular since its release in 2010. In 2018, it has been downloaded by about 25 million people. QQ Speed is a 3D game that combines two types of racing: competitive and casual. It can be played solo or in multiplayer. However, note that no more than six players can join, as QQ speed has limitations.

Player Unknown Battle Ground, better known as PUBG, was released in 2011. It rightfully belongs to the most popular Chinese games, as PUBG ranked third in the Chinese Apple store in 2018. There are now two versions of the PUBG game available: the “full steam ahead” and the so-called “battle royal.” In this game, 99 players gather on an island with weapons where they need to destroy their competitors. Whoever survives and is the last one standing is considered the winner in this Chinese game.

According to Vitaliy Klymenko, Editor In Chief in Slotamia, the best Chinese phone games for 2023-2024 are as follows:

1. Love and Producer

The dating simulation game Love and Producer attracts users with romantic storylines and intriguing characters. This game has a very engaging narrative; it even feels like a movie.

Love and Producer, or Mr. Love: Queen’s Choice in English version, was released by Suzhou Diezhi Network Technology in December 2017, just at the time when New Year’s Eve games were massively released on PC. It made quite a sensation throughout 2017 and 2018. The number of daily active users reached 2 million within two months of launch.

2. Penguin Isle

Penguin Isle is a relaxing game with a delightful art design. Many users say that the aesthetic design and background music give them a feeling of complete peace, distracting them from the daily hustle and bustle.

Penguin Isle is a casual game released by Shanghai-based Habby Networks Technology in August 2019. Your task is to raise penguins and expand their habitat. The more animals and infrastructure on your island, the more coins you earn. By the way, purchases in the mobile app can make the game much easier to play.

3. Anipop

Anipop is another simple casual Chinese three-in-a-row game. If you don’t feel like thinking too much and don’t know how to kill time, download Anipop to your smartphone.

Beijing-based game developer Happy Elements created Anipop. They released it as a browser-based game in 2013, and in 2014, the game appeared for iOS and Android. According to App Annie, Anipop topped the global mobile games chart in 2018 regarding monthly active users. The app has around 800 million users. One of the main reasons Anipop has gained immense popularity is its simplicity.
