China’s Coronavirus: 2,829 new confirmed cases, 57 new deaths

According to data released by China’s National Health Commission, there are 2829 new cases of new coronavirus infections (2019-nCoV) and 57 new deaths in the country.

Among the deaths, 56 occurred in the province of Hubei, the region considered the epicenter of the epidemic and 1 in the municipality of Chongqing.

5173 new suspects were reported on Sunday, according to the commission. Also on Sunday, 186 patients became seriously ill, and 147 people were discharged from hospital after recovery.

There are 17,205 confirmed cases in China, but the real number of infected could be significantly underestimated . There are 361 confirmed victims, 2296 people in serious conditions and 21,558 others were suspected of being infected with the virus.

Almost 500 people have been discharged from hospitals  after recovery.

The commission said it was monitoring nearly 190,000 people, of whom more than 10,000 were discharged from medical observation on Sunday, while another 152,700 are still under observation.

On Sunday, 15 new cases were confirmed in Hong Kong, 8 in Macau and 10 in Taiwan.
