Nan’en in the Dai language means the silver white water. It got the name because the waterfall is located on Nanen River.

Nanen Waterfall is sited on the upper reach of Nanen River beside Enshuo Highway, being 5 kilometers from the seat of Gasa Country Government of Xinping County. The source of Nanen River comes from the immense Ailao Mountain primeval forest in which clouds spread all over the place and the rainfall is abundant. The pure and abundant water continuously flow the whole year round and formed multi-level waterfalls. The highest waterfall is so magnificent flying from the cliff over 30meters and splashing silvery spray.
